These Organizer Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of CourtEngine as a tournament organizer (“Organizer,” “you,” or “your”). By registering an account, submitting payment, or using any feature of the CourtEngine platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms in full. If you do not agree, you must not use CourtEngine.
1. What CourtEngine Is — And What It Is Not
1.1 Software as a Service
CourtEngine is a software platform provided on a subscription or per-tournament basis. When you pay CourtEngine — whether through a monthly subscription, an annual plan, or a per-tournament fee — you are purchasing a limited license to use CourtEngine’s tournament management software and its associated features. You are not purchasing, renting, or acquiring any ownership interest in CourtEngine, its platform, its digital infrastructure, or any page or digital space hosted or generated by CourtEngine.
1.2 You License the Software. You Do Not Own the Space.
This distinction is fundamental to your relationship with CourtEngine and must be clearly understood:
- You have the right to use CourtEngine’s tools to create and manage tournaments.
- You do not have the right to control, commercialize, restrict, or modify the digital pages that CourtEngine generates on your behalf.
- The live view page, leaderboard page, bracket view, umpire scoring sheet, registration page, court booking page, and any other page hosted or powered by CourtEngine are CourtEngine’s digital property — not yours.
- Your tournament data (player names, scores, standings, brackets) is displayed through CourtEngine’s digital infrastructure. The infrastructure itself belongs to CourtEngine.
1.3 Analogy
Think of CourtEngine the way you think of renting a court. You pay for the right to play on it — you do not own the court, the building, or the space. The venue retains the right to manage the property as it sees fit, including placing banners and signage within the facility. CourtEngine operates on the same principle: you use our platform to run your tournament; we retain ownership and commercial rights over the platform itself.
2. CourtEngine’s Ownership of Digital Spaces
2.1 Platform Pages are CourtEngine Property
The following pages, interfaces, and digital spaces are owned, operated, and controlled exclusively by CourtEngine, regardless of which Organizer’s tournament data they display:
- Live view / live standings page
- Leaderboard page
- Bracket view and bracket progression pages
- Umpire score submission sheet
- Player registration page
- Court booking page
- Organizer dashboard
- Any other page, interface, link, or URL generated or hosted by CourtEngine now or in the future
2.2 No Transfer of Ownership
Nothing in these Terms, in any subscription agreement, or in any per-tournament payment constitutes a transfer of ownership or exclusive control of any CourtEngine-hosted page to the Organizer. Payment for CourtEngine services grants a usage license only.
2.3 CourtEngine’s Right to Manage Its Digital Property
As the owner of these digital spaces, CourtEngine reserves the right to:
- Display advertising, sponsored content, or promotional materials on any platform page
- Update, modify, redesign, or retire any platform page at any time
- Place CourtEngine branding, links, and promotional content on any platform page
- Grant advertising rights on platform pages to third-party advertisers
- Use platform page data for analytics, product development, and business improvement
- Introduce new features, pages, or monetization mechanisms on the platform at its sole discretion
2.4 Organizer Has No Commercial Rights Over Platform Pages
The Organizer has no right to:
- Sell, assign, or grant advertising or sponsorship rights on any CourtEngine-hosted page to any third party without CourtEngine’s express written consent
- Claim revenue from any advertising or sponsored content that CourtEngine places on platform pages
- Demand the removal of CourtEngine advertising from platform pages based on the Organizer’s own commercial relationships or preferences, except as provided in Section 4
- Attempt to block, disable, or circumvent advertising displayed by CourtEngine on its own platform pages
3. Advertising on CourtEngine Platform Pages
3.1 CourtEngine’s Advertising Rights
CourtEngine operates an advertising program that allows brands and businesses to place promotional content on CourtEngine-hosted pages. This is a legitimate and integral part of CourtEngine’s business model. By using CourtEngine, you acknowledge that advertising may appear on any platform page associated with your tournament unless you qualify for ad-free status as described in Section 3.4.
3.2 How CourtEngine Earns
CourtEngine generates revenue through three primary channels:
- Organizer subscriptions — monthly or annual plans paid by tournament organizers
- Per-tournament fees — one-off fees paid by organizers for individual tournament use
- Advertising — fees paid by third-party brands to display promotional content on CourtEngine-hosted digital spaces
All three revenue streams are necessary for CourtEngine to maintain, improve, and support the platform. By using CourtEngine, you acknowledge and accept this business model in full.
3.3 Advertising on Non-Qualifying Accounts
Advertising may appear on any or all platform pages associated with your tournament if you do not meet the ad-free qualifying criteria set out in Section 3.4. This includes Organizers who use CourtEngine on a per-tournament basis without a subscription, hold an active subscription but have not yet completed the minimum 3-month continuous subscription period, or have had their subscription lapse, cancelled, or reset for any reason.
3.4 Ad-Free Experience for Qualifying Subscribers
Organizers who hold an active CourtEngine subscription and have maintained continuous subscription payments for a minimum of three (3) consecutive months (“Qualifying Subscribers”) will receive an ad-free experience on all platform pages associated with their account.
- Monthly plan: Ad-free status activates at the start of the 4th consecutive billing month. If you subscribe in January, ad-free status begins in April, provided no payment has lapsed.
- Annual plan: Ad-free status activates immediately upon confirmed payment of a full annual subscription.
- Continuity: Any lapse in payment, cancellation, or downgrade resets the qualifying period to zero. Upon resubscription, the 3-month qualifying period begins again from the new subscription start date.
3.5 Loss of Ad-Free Status
Ad-free status is suspended immediately upon any subscription payment failure, voluntary cancellation, downgrade, or account suspension. Advertising may resume on all associated platform pages without prior notice. The qualifying period resets to zero and must be completed again in full before ad-free status is reinstated.
3.6 CourtEngine Branding Always Present
Regardless of subscription status or ad-free qualification, CourtEngine retains the right to display its brand name, logo, tagline, and platform attribution on all platform pages at all times. Ad-free status removes third-party advertising only — it does not remove CourtEngine’s own branding from its platform.
4. Organizer Sponsorship and Conflicts
4.1 Organizer’s Own Sponsors
Organizers may have their own event sponsors, partners, or commercial relationships. CourtEngine acknowledges this and does not claim any right over the Organizer’s own sponsorship arrangements as they apply to the physical event — including banners, uniforms, court signage, announcements, and printed materials at the venue.
4.2 Digital Space Remains CourtEngine’s
The Organizer’s sponsorship relationships do not extend to CourtEngine’s digital spaces. An Organizer cannot grant their own event sponsor exclusive rights over any CourtEngine-hosted page, and an Organizer cannot prohibit CourtEngine from displaying its own advertising on its own platform pages on the basis of the Organizer’s external commercial arrangements.
4.3 Conflict Accommodation for Qualifying Subscribers
CourtEngine will make reasonable good-faith efforts to avoid displaying advertising that directly conflicts with a verified exclusive sponsorship agreement held by a Qualifying Subscriber, upon written request submitted at least 14 days before the tournament start date. This accommodation is offered as a subscriber courtesy and is subject to CourtEngine’s sole discretion. CourtEngine does not guarantee conflict accommodation and is not liable if accommodation is not possible.
4.4 No Conflict Rights for Non-Qualifying Accounts
Organizers who do not meet the ad-free qualifying criteria in Section 3.4 have no right to request conflict accommodation of any kind. CourtEngine will display advertising at its discretion on all pages associated with non-qualifying tournament accounts.
5. Organizer’s License to Use the Platform
5.1 Scope of License
Subject to these Terms and payment of applicable fees, CourtEngine grants the Organizer a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use CourtEngine’s software features for the purpose of organizing and managing legitimate sporting tournaments.
5.2 Restrictions
The Organizer may not:
- Sublicense, resell, or transfer their CourtEngine access to any third party
- Use CourtEngine to organize events for purposes other than legitimate sporting competition
- Attempt to remove, disable, block, or circumvent advertising displayed by CourtEngine on platform pages
- Scrape, copy, or replicate any CourtEngine platform page, interface, or underlying technology
- Represent to players, sponsors, or third parties that they own or control CourtEngine’s digital infrastructure
- Sell or offer advertising on CourtEngine-hosted pages without CourtEngine’s express written authorization
5.3 Organizer Advertising Program
Enterprise-tier Organizers may apply to CourtEngine’s Organizer Advertising Program, which allows approved Organizers to offer designated sponsor placement on their tournament’s platform pages as an add-on feature. This program is governed by a separate written agreement. Participation does not transfer ownership of the digital space — it grants a limited commercial right subject to CourtEngine’s approval, oversight, and industry exclusivity policies.
6. Tournament Data
6.1 Your Data
Tournament Data — including player registrations, scores, match results, standings, and bracket information — belongs to the Organizer. CourtEngine does not claim ownership of Tournament Data.
6.2 License to Display
By entering Tournament Data into CourtEngine, you grant CourtEngine a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, process, and transmit that data through its platform for the purpose of providing tournament management services to you and making tournament information available to players and spectators through CourtEngine-hosted pages.
6.3 CourtEngine’s Use of Aggregated Data
CourtEngine may use aggregated, anonymized tournament data for platform analytics, product development, and marketing purposes. CourtEngine will not sell or publish individually identifiable tournament data without the Organizer’s consent.
6.4 Player Data Responsibility
The Organizer is responsible for ensuring that all player data collected through CourtEngine’s registration tools is collected with proper consent and in compliance with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and any other applicable data protection laws.
7. Fees and Payment
7.1 Subscription Fees
Monthly and annual subscription plans are billed in advance. Fees are non-refundable except as required by applicable law. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the next billing cycle.
7.2 Per-Tournament Fees
Per-tournament fees are charged for single-event use of the platform. These fees are non-refundable once tournament setup has been initiated. Per-tournament use does not contribute toward the 3-month qualifying period for ad-free status.
7.3 Fee Changes
CourtEngine may adjust its subscription or per-tournament fees with at least 30 days’ written notice to existing Subscribers. Continued use of the platform following the notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated fees.
7.4 Failed Payments
If payment fails, CourtEngine reserves the right to restrict or suspend access to the platform and to display advertising on all associated pages immediately. A failed payment also resets the 3-month ad-free qualifying period. CourtEngine is not liable for any disruption to tournament operations caused by payment failure.
7.5 Ad-Free Qualifying Period — Billing Transparency
CourtEngine will track each Organizer’s continuous subscription duration and notify Qualifying Subscribers when ad-free status is activated, typically at the start of the 4th billing month for monthly subscribers. Organizers may contact CourtEngine support at any time to confirm their current qualifying status.
8. Disclaimers and Liability
8.1 Platform Provided As-Is
CourtEngine is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. CourtEngine does not warrant uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or any specific level of performance.
8.2 No Liability for Tournament Outcomes
CourtEngine is a software tool only. All decisions regarding tournament management, player conduct, safety, and dispute resolution are the sole responsibility of the Organizer. CourtEngine is not liable for any outcomes, disputes, or incidents arising from tournaments organized using the platform.
8.3 Advertising Disclaimer
CourtEngine is not responsible for the products, services, or claims of any third-party advertiser whose content appears on platform pages. Advertising displayed on CourtEngine pages does not constitute CourtEngine’s endorsement of any advertiser’s offerings.
8.4 Limitation of Liability
CourtEngine’s total liability to any Organizer shall not exceed the total fees paid by that Organizer to CourtEngine in the three months preceding the claim.
9. Termination
9.1 By the Organizer
The Organizer may cancel their subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused subscription time. Cancellation resets the ad-free qualifying period.
9.2 By CourtEngine
CourtEngine reserves the right to suspend or terminate any Organizer’s account for breach of these Terms, non-payment, fraudulent activity, or any conduct that CourtEngine determines to be harmful to the platform, its users, or its business. Termination does not entitle the Organizer to a refund of fees already paid.
9.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, the Organizer’s license to use the platform ends immediately. CourtEngine-hosted pages associated with the Organizer’s account may be taken offline at CourtEngine’s discretion.
10. General Provisions
10.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation and, if unresolved, through the appropriate Philippine courts.
10.2 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with CourtEngine’s Privacy Policy and any applicable subscription agreement, constitute the entire agreement between the Organizer and CourtEngine regarding use of the platform.
10.3 Amendments
CourtEngine reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Active Subscribers will be notified of material changes by email or in-platform notice at least 14 days before changes take effect. Continued use of the platform following the notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
10.4 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
10.5 No Waiver
CourtEngine’s failure to enforce any provision of these Terms at any time does not waive its right to enforce that provision in the future.

Plain Language Summary
You pay CourtEngine to use the software — not to own the pages it creates. The live view page, umpire sheet, leaderboard, brackets, and all other CourtEngine-hosted pages are CourtEngine’s digital property. CourtEngine earns through organizer fees and advertising on its own digital spaces.
When do you get an ad-free experience? You qualify for ad-free status after 3 consecutive months of an active monthly subscription — ads disappear from your tournament pages starting month 4. Annual subscribers get it immediately. If your subscription lapses for any reason, the 3-month clock resets.
What does ad-free mean? Third-party brand ads are removed from your tournament pages. CourtEngine’s own branding and attribution remain — always.
